Registration is now open for ResponsibleAg and any business that stores or handles fertilizer products is encouraged to participate. ResponsibleAg provides participating businesses a federal regulatory compliance assessment relating to the safe storage and handling of fertilizers. Recommended corrective actions are also provided along with a robust suite of resources to assist facilities in complying with federal regulations.

ResponsibleAg has compiled a checklist of federal regulatory requirements applicable to the storage and handling of fertilizer. The checklist, developed by a technical committee comprised of industry regulatory professionals, contains more than 320 questions.

Auditors who successfully pass the ResponsibleAg Auditor Training Course will use this checklist to audit the level of compliance at each participating facility. ResponsileAg began conducting Auditor Training for their program on October 28. To date, three successful classes are completed. Nine courses are scheduled for 2015. View a list of available courses.

“Our program will also allow participants to identify potential compliance issues and correct them before the next government agency audit — saving time and helping to minimize the potential for penalties,” said Pirkle.
