Facility Inspection Program Season Ramps Up

A Minnesota facility was recently spotlighted as part of the industry’s annual bulk pesticide facility inspection program. Facilities in other states can expect inspections this year, too. Which states?

On July 8, the American Agronomic Stewardship Alliance (AASA) hosted an inspection tour at Central Valley Cooperative in Blooming Prairie, MN to highlight the 2009 AASA bulk pesticide facility inspection program. More than 50 representatives of the industry, regulatory agencies, and the Minnesota state legislature attended the Central Valley Cooperative event.

Inspections, which began in 2004, are conducted throughout the U.S. on a three-year cycle. Crop protection manufacturers and distributors use the inspection data to assist with decisions about where products can be stored safely. The Illinois Fertilizer & Chemical Association administers the AASA program.

In 2009, AASA is conducting inspections in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
