Process Safety Management Compliance Toolkit Now Available From ResponsibleAg
March 10, 2016 ResponsibleAg has announced the availability of MyPSM+RMP Compliance Assistance Tool and PSM Training Modules. These online materials will greatly assist agricultural retailers comply with the complex Process Safety Management (PSM) rule and the associated Risk Management Plan (RMP) Program Level 3 obligation. The training modules were developed by ResponsibleAg with assistance from Asmark Institute, The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) and the Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA). The MyPSM+RMP compliance assistance tool was developed by Asmark Institute, The Fertilizer Institute, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The new ResponsibleAg compliance toolkit meets an urgent need on the part of ag retailers for comprehensive, straightforward guidance as they sprint to meet the new PSM rule requirement. In July, 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) changed the definition of “retail facility” under the PSM Standard. As a result of this action, agricultural retailers who handle over 10,000lbs of anhydrous ammonia must comply with the PSM Standard by the end of September, 2016, and comply with the Risk Management Plan (RMP) Rule, Program Level 3, by the end of March 2017.
While the Compliance Tool and Training Modules are available without cost to all retailers, facilities that have enrolled in ResponsibleAg have access to enhanced plan and documentation functionality within the MyPSM+RMP compliance assistance tool. ResponsibleAg members also have access to the ResponsibleAg help desk, where they can receive answers to compliance questions on PSM and other federal regulations.
