Ethanol Industry Tapped As ‘Promising’
November 4, 2008 The ethanol industry has representatives on Forbes Magazine’s “Most-Promising Alternative Energy Companies” list.
"A recent Forbes Magazine article has named South Dakota-based ethanol production giant Poet LLC and Denmark’s enzyme producer Novozymes two of the eight most-promising alternative energy companies in the world," Ethanol Producer magazine reports. "Other companies in the wind, solar and oil industries also made the list. As well, battery makers who focused on the hybrid automobile also made the list.”
According to Ethanol Producer, Novozymes was recognized for its claim to contributing to the commercial-scale production of second-generation ethanol by 2010.
Poet is an ethanol producer that “competitors are watching,” according to Forbes. In addition to the large quantity of ethanol being produced at various Poet facilities throughout the Midwest’s Corn Belt, the company is also making strides to become the first commercial-scale producer of second-generation ethanol by utilizing the waste portion of the corn stalk."
