Syngenta First Agriculture Company To Receive Fair Labor Association Accreditation

Syngenta has announced that it has become the first agriculture company to receive accreditation from the Fair Labor Association (FLA). The FLA concluded that Syngenta’s compliance program has systems and procedures in place to ensure fair labor standards throughout its Indian production and supply operations, including:

  • Adopting and communicating workplace standards
  • Training staff to assess and remediate non-compliance issues
  • Conducting internal assessments of facilities
  • Providing workers with confidential reporting channels

Mark Peacock, Syngenta’s Head of Global Operations, said: “Becoming the first agriculture company to secure FLA accreditation is a source of great pride and the culmination of a journey that began in 2004. Above all, it highlights our absolute commitment to worker welfare. But we also know there is still much to do and we’ll continue working with the FLA to create more ethical supply chains in every country we operate in.”

Syngenta’s long-term focus on ensuring its operations meet the highest ethical standards is encapsulated in its commitment to look after every worker as part of The Good Growth Plan, which the company launched in 2013. Syngenta has been working with the FLA for more than 10 years and in 2008 became the first FLA member from the agriculture industry. Today, Syngenta’s worker welfare program extends from India to Eastern Europe and Latin America.
