Retirements, Awards Announced

Recent retirements, promotions, and company awards include those at CHS, Syngenta, and Agriland FS. Read more.

  • After 40 years in various supply and marketing management positions with Terra Industries, Agriliance, and CHS, Burnie Baker is retiring from CHS Crop Nutrients. CHS also has promoted Jim Carlson to product manager, potash and Tom Mulrooney to product manager, phosphates; both began their new responsibilities on Sept. 1.
     
  • Dr. David Lawrence, head of global research and development, will be retiring from Syngenta in April 2009. He will step down from the Executive Committee on Oct. 1, 2008, and will be succeeded by Dr Alejandro Aruffo, who joined Syngenta earlier this year from Abbott Laboratories. The two will work closely together to ensure a seamless transition.
  • Dr. Peter Doyle, a founding member of Syngenta’s Board of Directors and chairman of the Science and Technology Advisory Board, will retire at the Syngenta Annual General Meeting in April 2009. At the same meeting, the Board of Directors will propose to shareholders that Lawrence be appointed to the Board to fill the vacancy created by Doyle’s retirement.
     
  • Agriland FS, Inc. General Manager John Knobloch received the prestigious Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Management at the cooperative’s annual meeting in Chicago. AGRILAND FS is based in Winterset, IA. The Chairman’s Award is the highest honor GROWMARK bestows to member cooperative managers who have achieved outstanding results in the following management categories: percent or dollars of sales increase, credit administration, operating expense efficiency, and return on invested capital.
