Top 12 Tweets About The 2012 Farm Bill

Farm bills can be highly controversial by their nature and the subject of intense debate. So when news broke that the House Agriculture Committee had approved a five-year farm and nutrition bill by a vote of 35-11, there was instant public reaction — both good and bad — on social media. This was particulary true on Twitter, where #farmbill became a trending topic for the day.

House Republican leaders have shown little enthusiasm for taking up legislation that faces opposition from conservatives who say it is too expensive. Meanwhile, democrats don’t like the cuts in food stamps. The Farm Bill touches on so many different parts of society, from farming techniques to environmental quality, it’s no wonder so many Americans want to weigh in on it.
