Twas The Enewsletter Before Christmas

In honor of this week being the Christmas holiday, here’s a slightly altered version of a timeless classic, with a decidedly CropLife twist.

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the land
Not a creature was stirring, not even a seed man
Employee hands were outstretched in the air
In hopes a Christmas Bonus check soon would be there

CropLife’s staff was busily writing an issue with dread
While visions of missed deadlines danced in their head
And I was quickly writing, not a word having spoke
With a caffeinated soft drink beside me, an 8-ounce bottle of Coke

With my creative well running dry from too much shopping
I glanced over at the bottle, where carbonated bubbles were popping
A jolly old St. Nick in red was pictured there
Smiling joyfully, with nary a care

And was my imagination running wild, or did Santa just wink
Quickly, I closed my eyes in disbelief: blink, blink, blink
“Now Eric,” Santa seemed to be saying with a nod
“Do you really think people are thinking about business, you clod?”

“This is a week for not work, but Christmas cheer”
“Write about business trends and your readers will sneer”
“Instead, let them think about family and friends, not work”
“Wish them good tidings now, don’t be a jerk”

So who I am to argue season’s wisdom from Santa
(Though next Christmas, I think I’ll switch from Coke to Fanta)
So let me exclaim as I turn out my desk light
“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night”
