Two weeks ago, I was among more than 300,000 agricultural visitors to the annual National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY. Although there were other exhibitors present at this event, the stars of the show were big pieces of IRON, with tractors and self-propelled sprayers taking center stage.
This week, I will be attending the annual Commodity Classic show in Nashville, TN. And while equipment will be a part of this event, much of the buzz at the show among the 6,000 or so attendees will focus on what crop protection manufacturers and precision ag companies have on hand. For crop protection companies, the Commodity Classic has become a key show to highlight their products, both existing and new/improved. For example, for the past six years, Bayer CropScience has held an Ag Issues Forum just prior to the show, featuring an array of speakers discussing industry-worthy topics. This year’s event promises much of the same, with a decided focus on sustainability.
Meanwhile, fellow crop protection provider BASF will shine the spotlight on weed resistance and control recommendations for its annual Commodity Classic gathering. And Monsanto will allow select members of the event to visit its show floor booth early on opening day to tell attendees about its upcoming crop protection and seed trait innovations.
As for precision ag companies, many of the biggest players will be on hand with their latest product introductions and debuts. In addition, the Precision Ag Institute will have a big display with information from member companies and research data for visitors to view and take home. (Our CropLife team will also be on hand at this booth to visit or answer questions.)
