WEIGHING IN: It’s A Sfili-boy!!!!
We realize that there’s a lot going on in the industry right now -- the Farm Bill may finally get through Congress, the replies to our spray drift commentary from last week are waiting to be published, and certainly your growers are frustrated by the weather and compaction concerns while waiting to plant their corn.
But that just hasn’t been top of mind the last few days here in our office. We’ve been waiting, too.
Meet Cole Vincent Sfiligoj, the first-born child of CropLife® magazine Editor Eric Sfiligoj and his lovely bride of 23 years, Shelly. Weighing 8 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 21 inches long, Cole entered the world at 4:58 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23.
Those vital statistics don’t even begin to capture how special this baby is. He captured the hearts of our entire company from Day One, with good reason: How many couples do you know that have their first child in the 23rd year of marriage? (OK, my Uncle Jim and Aunt Betty had Chip around the same time, so I can claim one.)
As the due date approached, the anticipation grew. Every time Eric left his desk, someone would pop by and ask the question: "Is Eric here today or are they at the hospital having the baby?" There were a couple of false alarms, which just about drove everyone crazy. I even jokingly told Eric the baby’s name should be Farm Bill, since he kept extending his due date!
In a quick e-mail to the office after Cole’s birth, Eric said: "I know I’m biased, but he’s beautiful!"
We couldn’t agree more. Congratulations Shelly and Eric, and welcome, baby Cole!!
