This Week's Security Tip
Work Out A Lighting Installation Plan
Once the location and type of lighting are determined, retailers should next decide on a schedule for getting their lighting network installed. According to J. Billy Pirkle, managing director, environmental, health & safety for Royster-Clark, Inc., Collinsville, IL, working with the local utility company is the easiest way to accomplish this task.
"These folks are pretty agreeable to giving you a hand with anything that involves lighting," says Pirkle. "Not only will they conduct a lighting survey to help decide light type and placement, they will help set up a timetable for getting the lights installed as efficiently as possible." In some states, he adds, local power companies will also set up a monthly charge (similar to a lease arrangement) for lighting, giving the user the flexibility to upgrade down the line without making a large capital investment.
