DEALERSHIP SECURITY & YOU
This Week's Security Tip

Formulate a plan of action for dealing with warehouse security/safety issues.

The first step to any effective warehouse security plan is to formulate a plan of action.

According to Doug Wendt, branch manager for The McGregor Co., Dayton, WA, this should include what steps to take to secure warehouse contents, a list of safety items that are on-site in the warehouse to handle accidents and security needs, and procedures to follow in cause an incident occurs.

Getting a retailer's employees involved, adds Wendt, is the key to success. "You have to establish some kind of ownership to make this work, from upper management down the outlet level," he says. "You need to have regular training sessions to explain these plans and make certain everyone is working from the same security script."
