DEALERSHIP SECURITY & YOU
This Week's Security Tip
Establish a testing/maintenance schedule.
After the lighting network has been installed, retailers will need to make certain that it functions properly and is kept in top working shape. According to J. Billy Pirkle, managing director, environmental, health & safety for Royster-Clark, Inc., Collinsville, IL, someone should check the lights on a daily basis if possible at the facility. At the very least, lights should be checked monthly to see that they are in good repair.
"Local law enforcement officials can help in this cause, too, by reporting any burned out lights they may have seen during a regular nightly patrol to the retailer," he says.
Regularly test the lights to make certain they are working properly. Also, establish a maintenance schedule, checking the lights daily if possible, but at least on a monthly basis.
