Jeff Troike has been named President and CEO of the newly formed agribusiness known as Ceres Solutions Cooperative. Ceres Solutions Cooperative is the organization created as a result of the recent merger decision between two large regional agricultural cooperatives: Ceres Solutions LLP and North Central Co-op.

The company’s 12-member board of directors, which is representative of farmers from across the geography served by both prior organizations, is tasked with the responsibility of hiring a manager, and voted in favor of offering Troike the leadership role last night at their first director meeting. Troike accepted. The 12 board members are experienced leaders and producers within the cooperative system, and were themselves elected into leadership earlier this week with the full support of their cooperative peers who served on the prior co-ops’ boards.

Under Troike’s leadership, the new organization will officially begin doing business as Ceres Solutions Cooperative on September 1, 2017, and will serve customers from existing locations as well as the Wabash and Crawfordsville administrative offices. Troike brings more than three decades of cooperative management to his role — most recently as President and CEO of Ceres Solutions LLP. Raised on a family farm in Starke County, Troike is a 1982 Purdue University graduate and current Land O Lakes Board Member. While North Central Co-op and Ceres Solutions LLP will continue separate business operations through August, the Board’s decision to name a CEO at this time will help facilitate some decisions the combined leadership team will make. Collaboration and idea sharing between the two organizations has already begun on several projects.

“I thank the board members for this opportunity, and I greatly appreciate the privilege of working beside all employees,” said Troike. “With North Central Co-op CEO Mark Tullis’ support, our collective goal is now to come together, utilizing shared strengths and vision, to serve farmers in the most innovative and relevant ways,” said Troike. “We’ll work hard on every level to transition seamlessly, so that we can grow this business for members, and deliver results that bring maximum benefit to all members and customers.”

As Ceres Solutions Cooperative, the business will serve energy, agronomy, animal nutrition and grain marketing needs in almost 30 Indiana counties and seven counties in Michigan. The combined cooperative will encompass more than 60 facilities throughout the two states, and unifies two organizations with very similar structures, product and service offerings and go-to-market strategies. Under Troike’s leadership, approximately 600 local employees will align under one mission: “What each customer needs to know is that our primary goal has not changed and will not change: we remain centered on you and your success,” he said.
