The McGregor Co. Closes Smith-Kem Acquisition

The McGregor Co. — ranked No. 16 on the CropLife 100 list of largest U.S. ag retailers — has completed the acquisition of Smith-Kem, Inc. Smith-Kem is based in the heart of the Kittitas Valley region of Washington State. The valley is one of the most productive forage raising areas in the U.S. Crops raised are primarily timothy hay and other rotational crops.

Both The McGregor Co. and Smith-Kem were founded in 1948 and have a very long history of family ownership, and a commitment to providing top quality agricultural inputs, and service, to growers. “We are excited to bring the Smith-Kem team onboard. We have a long relationship and a great respect for the way Smith-Kem has operated, and grown their business over the years” says Ian McGregor, Vice President of The McGregor Co.
