Founded in 1968, Hopkins began as a retail operation providing farm chemicals and fertilizer to local farmers. Jerry Suiter began working for Hopkins in 1971 and became manager in 1976. Suiter began to grow the business by providing seed products and additional services such as custom application of fertilizer and chemicals. In 1988, Suiter and his wife, Janice, purchased the business.  Today, Hopkins specializes in corn, soybean and rice crops and provides local growers with a full range of plant nutrition products, crop protection chemicals, seed and other agronomic services.

The new Sanders location will remain at 13171 Highway 53, Qulin, MO 63961 and will be managed by Suiter. Suiter’s sons, Jamie and Justin, will remain as sales representatives.

“We are pleased to associate our reputation and business with an equally respected company that shares similar values,” said Suiter. “Other than new Sanders branding and signage, customers shouldn’t notice much of a change in our daily operations.  What customers will notice over time are the additional resources and tools that Sanders brings to help them in reducing crop risk, solving production problems, and lowering their cost per unit of production.”

“We are excited to introduce Sanders to the Missouri Bootheel, and we are very happy with the acquisition of this well-established, respected business,” said Jack Coleman, Sanders Area Operations Manager.  “We welcome the Hopkins staff to our team and look forward to continuing the excellent service that Jerry Suiter and his team have provided area growers for almost half a century.”
