Monocrotophos

Use: Azodrin* 5 on cotton for beet armyworm, boll weevil, bollworm, fleahoppers, loopers, Lygus plant bugs, mites, thrips, and whiteflies. On peanuts for granulate cutworm, lesser cornstalk borer, and mites. On tobacco for green peach aphid, tobacco budworm, tobacco hornworm, and vegetable weevil.
Identification
Common Name(s): Monocrotophos (ISO, BSI, JMAF, ESA)
Chemistry
Class: Organophosphate.
Properties: Reddish-brown, ester odor. Incompatible with alkaline compounds. Soluble in acetone (70%) and alcohol; very slightly soluble in kerosene and diesel fuel.

Registration
U.S.A.: All domestic registrations cancelled. EPA has proposed to revoke all tolerances.
Outside U.S.A.: Monocrotophos is banned in some countries (including Argentina) and comes under PIC (prior informed consent) regulations in others.

Handling/storage: Poisonous if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Repeated inhalation or skin contact may without symptoms progressively increase susceptibility to Azodrin* poisoning. Stable in simple alcohols and glycols at room temperature. Stable when stored in glass or polyethylene containers. Relatively stable in sunlight. Unstable above 100°F. Do not contaminate feed or food. Do not drink any alcoholic beverages before or during spraying since alcohol promotes absorption of organic phosphates. Azodrin* 5 is extremely flammable; do not store below 70°F or above 80°F for prolonged periods
