  • Herbicide
Use: A nitrile compound used as a preemergent and early postemergent herbicide. Barrier* for landscape ornamentals, parks, along fences, roads, and highways, around buildings, and tree wells. Casoron* for usel in cranberry bogs, orchards, nurseries, ornamentals, vineyards, public green areas, industrial sites, railway lines, and under asphalt.

Chemistry
Class: Benzonitrile.
Properties: White to yellowish brown crystalline powder. Melting point 139°-145°C. Vapor pressure 0.088 Pa (= 8.8 x 10-5 mbar) at 20°C. Stable to heat, acids; hydrolyzed by alkali to the benzamide. Slightly soluble in most organic solvents.
