Valent Announces “Relentless As You’ Contest Winners

Valent U.S.A. Corporation today announced the winners of its national “Relentless As You” contest, which recognized the relentless spirit of the American farmer and growers who go above and beyond in their communities and farming operations. Five growers were also recognized as “Valent Choice Honorees” by their regional Valent sales representative.
Each winner and honoree will receive a $1,000 grant that will be made in their name to a local 501(c)(3) charity of their choosing. Valent will also make a $500 grant to a local 501(c)(3) charity in the name of each winner and honoree’s local retailer when applicable.
“These winners and honorees embody the strength, determination and relentless spirit it takes to deliver food and fiber to our communities,” said Meg Brodman, senior manager of marketing communications for Valent. “By recognizing and honoring these hard-working growers for their sacrifices and achievements, we hope their communities will gain a better understanding of what it takes to be a grower.”
National winners include:
- Mike Bell, Sullivan, IN, Sullivan County 4H Council/Sullivan County Fairboard.
- Phil Yates, Paragould, AR, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
- Andy & Stephanie Smallhouse, Redington, AZ, Education Farming Co.
- Pam Zielinski, Gervais, OR, Oregon Ag Fest, Inc.
- Jim Moreton, Charleston, MO, Susanna Wesley Family Learning Center.
Valent Choice Honorees include:
- John Aguzzi, Cleveland, MS, Cleveland School District.
- Randy Ridgway, Centralia, MO, Angie Ridgway Memorial Scholarship Fund.
- Jason White, Newville, AL, Northside Methodist Academy.
- Carl Ayers, Perrysville, OH, Helping Hand.
- Brett Duncan, Hancock, MN, Hancock School Foundation.
Entrants submitted a 100-word description about their relentless spirit of dedication and determination to succeed on the farm and in the community, along with a photo or video. Growers could nominate themselves or be nominated by a family member, friend or neighbor. A panel of judges from Valent chose the five national winners. The five Valent Choice Honorees were nominated, one from each of the top five Valent sales regions across the United States, for the efforts those growers have made in their communities.
