Ohio Soybean Association, Beck’s Hybrids Launch Young Farm Leader Program
April 2, 2013 The Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) and Beck’s Hybrids are proud to announce the launch of the 2013 Beck’s Young Farm Leader Program. This is the first year for the program created to showcase the hard work, dedication and leadership of young Ohio soybean farmers.
“We are looking for individuals who are committed to the soybean industry and Ohio agriculture,” said Scott Beck, vice president of Beck’s Hybrids. “In many cases the time and energy these young leaders contribute goes unnoticed and unrecognized. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to give these individuals the recognition they deserve.”
Beginning in May, one young farmer (21-45 years of age) will be selected each quarter and highlighted in a feature story published in Ohio agriculture publications. The features will focus on the individual’s leadership roles both on and off the farm and how he or she has built a foundation for farming success.
In addition to feature stories, Beck’s Young Farm Leaders may have the opportunity to attend OSA and Beck’s Hybrids events and/or other relevant activities. In December one of the winners will be named the 2013 Beck’s Young Farm Leader of the Year and receive a trip for two to the 2014 Commodity Classic in San Antonio, TX.
Applications for the first selection are due May 1. Applications will carry over to subsequent quarters for consideration, but will not carry over to the 2014 program.

Any Ohio soybean farmer between the ages of 21 and 45 may apply and are not required to be using Beck’s Hybrids products to be eligible to win. Applicants must have a current Ohio Soybean Association membership and demonstrate an interest in pursuing future leadership roles in the soybean industry.
