These agricultural images illustrate the impact of weather on the livelihood of the American farmer, and are part of a new photo contest – Snap the Weather and Win – being sponsored by Monsanto in association with the Farmers’ Forecast (www.weather.com/farming).

The Snap the Weather and Win photo contest gives farmers a chance to share and showcase the dramatic weather events they experience on their farms while entering for a chance to win a new, weather-proof digital camera.

From now through August 4, 2010, farmers visiting Farmers’ Forecast will see a promotional advertisement that directs them to the official contest page where they can sign-up and submit dramatic weather photos captured from their farm. Farmers can also go directly to the contest’s Web site, www.farmers-forecast.com.

The winner of the contest will receive a PENTAX Optio W90 weather-proof digital camera and all photos will be eligible for use in future Farmers’ Forecast marketing materials.

By entering the contest, farmers are agreeing to being at least 18 years of age, entering a photo that is their own and originating from their farm, and accepting that their photo may be used on the contest site, including name and location, and in future Monsanto marketing materials.

Additionally, photos submitted must be a minimum of 800×600 pixels in size and cannot include people, equipment or other objects with identifiable logos. There is no limit to the number of photos a farmer may submit. Judges will cast their votes based on the dramatic impression of the photo and creativity of the shot.

“This contest is a great opportunity for farmers to have fun and share their weather experiences on their farms,” says Jenna Oesch, brand communications manager for Monsanto. “No one watches the weather closer than farmers. This contest gives them a chance to showcase the dramatic imagery they see every season from Mother Nature, and have the opportunity to win a new weather-proof camera for future photographic opportunities.”

The winner of the contest will be selected and notified no later than August 25, 2010. For a full list of contest rules and details, visit www.farmers-forecast.com.
