  • Farmers in the Corn Belt will be able to choose from about 60 Genuity SmartStax corn hybrids — about twice as many as in 2010 — mainly in the 90-105 day relative maturities. Genuity SmartStax provides the industry’s most comprehensive protection against above- and below-ground insects with a 5 percent structured refuge.
  • In Corn Belt geographies where corn rootworm is less of an issue, farmers will be able to choose from more than 45 hybrids of Genuity VT Double PRO corn, a three-fold increase over 2010 offerings. Genuity VT Double PRO corn has a 5 percent above-ground refuge requirement versus the standard 20 percent in the Corn Belt. Genuity VT Double PRO provides multiple modes of action against above-ground insects.
  • More than 90 Genuity VT Triple PRO corn hybrids will be available to farmers in the South and parts of the Midwest in 2011. Corn farmers in the cotton growing regions of the South can take advantage of the 20 percent structured refuge allowed for this corn product. The trait package provides above- and below-ground insect control and was available in about 50 products in 2010.

“This greater choice of Genuity products is designed to help farmers maximize their productivity and yield opportunity by offering genetic and trait combinations best suited for their growing conditions,” says Tom Wilson, Monsanto Genuity Traits Marketing Lead.

Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans

Soybean farmers will also have more options to plant the latest Genuity soybean trait — Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield. This technology, delivering more beans per pod and more bushels per acre compared with Roundup Ready soybeans, will be available in about 230 varieties in 2011, nearly three times the number this past season.

Genuity corn and soybean traits are offered by Monsanto’s 16 company-owned national and regional seed brands, and through a network of more than 150 independent seed company licensees. For additional information, contact your seed dealer or visit www.genuity.com.
