Bob Wilhelm recently joined Monsanto in a newly created role as the Global Branding Lead, working in the Global Marketing Team.
“The Global Branding function was created in response to Monsanto’s goal to define, communicate and drive an effective and efficient branding process to support appropriate branding decisions across all world areas,” said Jim Bowman, Global Marketing Team Lead.
“As such, our needs in this area included establishing a global branding leader; and we’ve taken that step, bringing Bob into the company,” he said.
Wilhelm has worked in marketing, communication and branding for his entire career, for the last 18 in the agriculture marketing and branding space.
He worked with Monsanto on the agency side, participating in the launch of Roundup Ready soybeans and worked with the Roundup post-patent team as they launched and named Roundup Ultra and Transorb Technology; including work on a variety of other Monsanto seed, crop protection, trait and feature brands and campaigns.
In Wilhelm’s roles with several North American agriculture marketing agencies, he continued to gain experience with agribusiness customers and brands including John Deere, Intervet/Schering Plough Animal Health, Purina Mills, USDA Rural Development, Nexera Canola, Bayer CropScience, Dow AgroSciences, National Australia Bank (NAB), United Farmers of Alberta (UFA), Agrotain, Novus International, and the California Communications Coalition.
Most recently, Wilhelm was Senior Vice President of Marketing at Rabo AgriFinance, where he was involved in helping the company identify a differentiated brand position and marketing campaign to reach U.S. prospects, customers and influencers; and helping create a plan for transforming the online experience for RAF customers.
Wilhelm is a graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. He will be based in Monsanto’s St. Louis headquarters.
