Landus Coop: Test Plot Results Show 6x ROI on SDS Seed Treatments

Iowa’s largest farmer-owned cooperative today released results from its 184-acre Research Plot in a 30-page guide.

“The breadth and scope of these field trials move us well beyond ‘test-plot’ status,” explained Director of Agronomy and plot leader, Todd Claussen.  “This results book defines our recommendations for managing Sudden Death Syndrome with seed treatments, pairing fungicide with insecticides in early-season applications, and adjusting your planting depth for maximum emergence and yield opportunity.”

“If we cannot demonstrate, evaluate and ground-truth crop production inputs and recommendations, we are just selling stuff,” added Claussen. “As a farmer-owned cooperative, we have made a strong investment in this Research Plot site in order to offer best-practice management strategies and leading agronomic insight for our members and customers.”

Among the recommendations included in the results book available from any Landus Cooperative Field Sales Agronomist are:

  • Adjusting seeding rates based on planting date may offer a 2.5-fold ROI
  • SDS soybean seed treatments showing a nearly 6-fold ROI
  • Benefits for combined fungicide/insecticide application vs. standalone applications
  • Opportunities to improve corn yield based on the no-cost adjustments made in seed planting depth

The Research Plot results books are available at no charge to all Landus Cooperative members and customers and are free to view online here.
