Transform WG, Closer SC Insecticides Receive R&D 100 Award

A novel chemistry that controls sap-feeding insects, at low use rates, with a unique mode of action, has won an R&D 100 Award. Dow AgroSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Co., received the award from R&D Magazine for Transform WG insecticide and Closer SC insecticide with Isoclast active.

“The Isoclast active ingredient in Closer and Transform represents a significant scientific achievement in the next generation of crop protection,” said Daniel R. Kittle, vice president of research and development at Dow AgroSciences. “Our team began this journey more than a decade ago, anticipating the potential for resistance with other traditional insecticides. This recognition by R&D Magazine validates our researchers’ dedication to scientific excellence and product stewardship as they innovate to meet the needs of our customers.”

Isoclast active belongs to a novel chemical class called sulfoximines invented and developed by Dow AgroSciences, offering extremely effective control of many important sap-feeding insect pests. It can be used in a large number of major crops, including cotton, soybean, citrus, pome/stone fruit, nuts, grapes, potatoes, vegetables and strawberries. Isoclast active has unique attributes compared with other sap-feeding insecticides, providing a significant new tool for growers for many years to come.

Transform WG insecticide and Closer SC insecticide with Isoclast active join four other technologies from Dow honored with R&D 100 Awards this year.
