Fuzion Technologies, Huntsman Form Technology Agreement
March 17, 2011 Fuzion Technologies, LLC and Huntsman Petrochemical LLC announce a long term licensing agreement for the commercialization of an insecticide delivery technology developed and optimized by Huntsman. The technology, which will be marketed by Fuzion Technologies, LLC under the “Veloz Technology” umbrella, is centered around extremely fast knockdown and improved insect mortality rates when used in combination with certain insecticide families.
Scott Tann, Huntsman Agrochemical Business Manager for the Americas says, “We optimized this technology over several years. Essentially, Veloz Technology delivers the insecticide to the insect faster resulting in dramatically faster knockdown activity and increased mortality rates. It penetrates the insect cuticle very quickly and carries the insecticide with it.”
Mike Steffeck, President of Fuzion Technologies, LLC adds that research shows that Veloz Technology can result in insect knockdown effects of up to two times faster and improve mortality rates by 15-20% when compared to insecticide without the technology. Because of this improved insecticidal activity and delivery, it has also demonstrated increased effectiveness in low volume applications, such as in aerial applications.
Tann adds, “By improving and accelerating the penetration of contact insecticides through the cuticle of the insect, the result is an increase in knockdown speed and improved control.”
Fuzion Technologies, LLC has begun the regulatory process and expects its first registration soon.
“We continue to see crop protection products show signs of weakness and resistance,” Steffeck observes. “Veloz Technology cannot reverse resistance, BUT it can play a key role in extending the useful life of some of these vulnerable and heavily used insecticides. By delivering the insecticide to the target site faster and before degradation intensifies, Veloz Technology not only can improve the knockdown but also result in a more complete kill. Delivering a higher dosage directly to the insect and doing it quickly is critical.
“We plan to introduce the technology this spring in a product called “Frenzy” followed by as many as 3 others in the first 12 months. As always, we will only market Fuzion brands through members of the Fuzion B2B Network,” Steffeck concludes.
