Dow AgroSciences Names Enlist Field Specialists
February 13, 2013 Dow AgroSciences is expanding its in-field technical resources with regional field specialists for the Enlist Weed Control System.
Enlist field specialists are dedicated resources for distributors, seed companies, retailers and growers who will provide the technical knowledge and field support for the Enlist system.
Enlist field specialists are experts in weed management, application technology and crop research. They are also an integral part of Enlist Ahead, a benefits-based, management resource tool designed for the grower, applicator and retailer. Field specialists will help retailers and seed sellers understand the technology and make sound agronomic decisions for their customers’ farms through classroom and in-field training.
“The field specialists are a tremendous resource to growers, applicators and retailers as they learn more about the Enlist system and use Enlist in the field,” says Damon Palmer, Dow AgroSciences U.S. commercial leader, Enlist Weed Control System. “Their extensive educational and in-field experience coupled with their technical expertise provides customers with the tools they need to adopt the Enlist system with confidence.”
Five field specialists have been named, and the team is likely to expand in the future. Byron Hendrix, David Hillger, Jonathan Siebert, Ralph Lassiter and Andy Carriger have transitioned from previous roles at Dow AgroSciences.
Serving the upper Midwest, Byron Hendrix brings strong experience in weed science and agronomics to his new role. He most recently served as Mycogen Seeds customer agronomist and has experience in ag retail. Hendrix holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in plant and soil science from Southern Illinois University.
David Hillger will provide support to Illinois and the eastern Corn Belt. His immense knowledge of weed science and application technology complements his synthetic auxin field research. In addition to his work at Dow AgroSciences, Hillger has served as an ag teacher, university Extension educator and custom applicator. Hillger has a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and holds both a master’s degree and a doctorate in botany and plant pathology from Purdue University.
Jonathan Siebert is supporting Enlist in the Mid-South and Texas. He was the Field Station Operations leader at the Leland, MS, breeding station and brings vast experience in weed science, agronomics, cotton and sensitive-crop research to his new role. Siebert has held field scientist positions at Monsanto and Dow AgroSciences and earned a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctorate from Louisiana State University.
Ralph Lassiter will serve as field specialist for the Southeast from Virginia to Alabama. Lassiter’s extensive experience in weed science and agronomy includes field research on Enlist cotton and Enlist soybeans. In addition to multiple field science research roles within Dow AgroSciences, Lassiter was the field station leader at the Greenfield, IN, research farm. Lassiter has a bachelor’s degree in agronomy and a master’s degree in weed science from North Carolina State University.
Andy Carriger is supporting the Midwest, including Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma and Iowa. He most recently worked on the Range & Pasture, PhytoGen cottonseed and rice businesses. Over the course of his career, he has developed an expertise in the synthetic auxin class of chemistry. He also has worked in sales offices in Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri. While at the Kansas City sales office, he helped launch the Range & Pasture products in the Midwest. Carriger earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University.
