Yara Stockton Automated Bagging Line Ready For 2016 Season

Capable of forming, filling, sealing, and stacking 2000 bags an hour, Yara Stockton’s new bagging equipment was inaugurated on January 26, 2016. The new equipment and facility enhancements represent a $5 million investment in the Yara Stockton Dry terminal.

“Yara is highly committed to California agriculture and to the dynamic needs of the growers in this region,” says Jorgen C. Arentz Rostrup, President of Yara North America. “This new equipment adds even greater flexibility to our already comprehensive service and product line available in California and on the west coast.”

Stockton Gateway Terminal has capacity to store up to 80,000 tons of dry materials. The state-of-the-art bagging line is fed by a series of conveyors which carry the fertilizers to the line from bulk storage areas. The highly capable and efficient equipment then forms a bag from a roll of preprinted plastic. The bag is filled, sealed and placed on a pallet for storage and eventual shipping. Also automated is the “hood” that is created from a plastic sheeting to cover the pallet for added protection, further ensuring product quality.
