Proactive Nutrients Campaign Hits DC

A new ad campaign in the nation’s capital shares the positive story of fertilizer and food.

The Nutrients for Life Foundation has launched its “Fertilizer is Life’s Main Ingredient” advertising campaign in Washington, DC, in an effort to raise awareness of fertilizer’s role in food production. Campaign materials are being featured on the Metro system and on WTOP radio — two highly utilized forms of media in the market.

“This is the first time the Foundation has taken its message to the general public. The consumer-friendly approach aims to educate people on fertilizer’s role in food production, linking fertilizer to the food on their plates,” says Foundation Executive Director Harriet Wegmeyer. “We hear so much from other groups who are framing fertilizer in a negative light. It is time we speak directly to consumers and share the positive role of fertilizer — we have a great story to tell.”

The radio spots will run through the end of November on WTOP, the most listened-to radio station in the Washington, D.C., market. The radio spots set the scene with food memories and end with the statement “… all of this good food is brought to you by fertilizer, life’s main ingredient.”

The “Fertilizer is Life’s Main Ingredient” metro ads began appearing in early October. More than 850,000 people ride the metro everyday and will soon be seeing the Foundation’s campaign materials. Washington, DC, listeners and riders are tuning in to hear and see why fertilizer is so important to the food we eat … because fertilizer is life’s main ingredient.

The Foundation hopes to see a positive impact from this campaign and eventually take the campaign to other markets across the country.
