H.J. Baker & Bro., Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tiger-Sul Products, recently celebrated the grand opening of a state-of-the-art facility in Stockton, CA.
This is H.J. Baker & Bro, Inc.’s third production facility in North America. “This will allow us to continue to produce top quality sulphur-based fertilizers to customers in the region and will also allow us to reach our international customers efficiently, while continuing to provide the exceptional service and products our customers depend on,” stated Christopher Smith, president/CEO of the company, during the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
Attendees were able to tour the new facility, which showcased some of the latest technology available in the Tiger-Sul pastillation process. “The Tiger-Sul pastillation process produces an especially uniform product that is an excellent fit for the California soils,” Smith said. “All our products feature environment-friendly benefits such as season-long release of nutrients that maximizes nutrient efficiency, improving plant availability. The Tiger-Sul line of products is also well suited for the California soils as the sulphur assists in phosphate and micronutrient efficiency.”
Guest luncheon speaker Don Messick, director of Agricultural Market Studies Programs, gave a brief overview of the world sulphur markets.
“This new facility in Stockton, CA, is only one piece of our global supply strateg,” explained Jeff Ivan, manager of Tiger-Sul Products’ marketing & business development. “In September we will also be celebrating the grand opening of the Umbogintwini, South Africa, Sulphur pastillation facility with our partner, Chemical Initiatives. By licensing our technology to Chemical Initiatives, we can work together to supply the African continent with sulphur-based fertilizers to address the sulphur deficit in Africa.”
