Comment Needed On Fertilizer Application Standard

Input is being sought in the development of an American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) standard for evaluating variable-rate granular material application.

Defined test procedures for variable-rate application equipment are currently not available to manufacturers, and this proposed standard will specify methods for testing and reporting application accuracy of dry granular materials.

The goal is to provide manufacturers with a means for analyzing equipment performance. The resulting data will also allow consumers to objectively compare equipment when making purchase decisions. The standard may also provide for the testing of machines as they age, to quantify performance degradation with systems wear.

Additional industry input will ensure the document meets the needs of manufacturers of affected equipment. If you have interest in participating in the development of this standard please contact ASABE Standards Director Scott Cedarquist, 269-439-0300, [email protected]. A current listing of all ASABE standards projects can be found on the ASABE web site.
