DuPont Named Among The World “Most Admired Companies”

DuPont climbed six spots from last year to reach No. 37 on FORTUNE’s list of “Most Admired Companies” for 2012. The move upward is part of a continuing trend — DuPont was ranked 52nd in 2009.

“This wonderful recognition underscores the commitment of our 70,000 employees in advancing our core values and how we are using science in making a difference in the world,” said DuPont Chair and CEO Ellen Kullman.  “With the breadth and depth of our science, DuPont is developing transformative products and services that will help ensure a more secure food supply, find new energy sources and protect people where they work and live.”

DuPont is No. 1 in its industry sector, and as part of that industry ranking, was first in innovation, people management, social responsibility and quality of products/services.

Companies also were rated on their use of corporate assets, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment and global competitiveness.

DuPont is the only company in its industry sector to make the Top 50 list.

“A company’s reputation is one of its most valuable assets,” said Anthony Farina, director of DuPont Global Public Affairs.  “FORTUNE’s ‘Most Admired Companies’ list is widely considered among the definitive measure of corporate reputation. DuPont’s progression over the last three years on this important barometer reinforces our strong reputation with key stakeholders.”

To identify and rank the most admired companies, FORTUNE and its partner, The Hay Group, surveyed approximately 15,000 senior executives, outside directors from the FORTUNE 1,000 and Global 500 companies and other major non-U.S. companies and financial analysts.
