ASTA Comments On Syngenta, Gavilon Distribution Agreement For Agrisure Duracade

American Seed Trade Association President & CEO Andrew W. LaVigne released the following statement in response to Syngenta’s announcement of the limited release of Agrisure Duracade:

“The introduction of new technologies for use by America’s farmers is absolutely crucial to their ability to remain competitive in an ever-changing global marketplace.  The capability to move grain products that are produced from those new technologies into key export markets is also important as the U.S. agriculture value chain works to address the challenges and predictability of the approval process in those markets.”

To that end, the American Seed Trade Association supports industry-driven efforts to maintain and facilitate the global movement of grain. The recently announced agreement between Syngenta and Gavilon Grain, LLC to closely manage the limited trait release of Duracade this coming season is an example of such coordination. This action seeks to maintain markets for U.S. corn and establishes a model for future agreements when the need may arise. It also enables seed companies to continue developing new and improved seed varieties that address the many challenges facing America’s farmers.”
