A couple of weeks ago, we ran an article about nitrogen stabilizer products, “Nitrogen Enhancement Products Unveiled,” that garnered several interesting comments from readers. What did they say?
The article was actually two in one. Agrotain International’s three new green formulations of its Agrotain and Agrotain Plus nitrogen enhancement products was the focus on “AgroTain Develops New Formulations.” The other article, “New Nitrogen Stabilizer Protects Applications,” told of Dow AgroSciences' Instinct nitrogen stabilizer, recently approved by EPA.
All the comments were submitted anonymously, so I can’t tell you the region of the country the authors are in, but what they had to share is interesting nonetheless, and can be food for thought at your own dealership.
- “As fertilizer becomes more expensive, getting the total value out of nitrogen becomes more important. If my growers can obtain better efficacy by using a nitrogen stabilizer, I recommend my growers using it, some of my growers have been implementing stabilized nitrogen in their nutrient programs for 10 years.”
- “We recommend it always when we're sidedressing urea, but only occasionally in the spring. Mostly depends on temperature and expected rainfall.”
- “Some of the nitrogen stabilizer products will allow a grower to reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied but you need to manage nutrients closely. I have seen nitrogen applications reduced by 25 percent with out a reduction in yield.”
- “I have seen university research using N-Serve and URAN to increased the efficacy of the nitrogen. I have been using this on grain and corn with great results. The research data is on the Fluid Fertilizer Foundation Web site at www.fluidfertilizer.com/.”
We always appreciate your feedback and comments, which can help other retailers improve their own practices and business. including the fertilizer sector. Hard to believe, but it’ll be time for fall fertilizer planning soon as the summer winds down.
