SEC Investigating Monsanto's Customer Incentive Programs

The Securities and Exchange Commission is conducting an investigation regarding Monsanto's customer incentive programs relating to its glyphosate products.

July 6, 2011

The staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission is conducting an investigation regarding Monsanto's customer incentive programs relating to its glyphosate products in fiscal years 2009 and 2010.

This relates to financial incentives Monsanto offered to distributors who carry its glyphosate products and the financial reporting of those incentives.

It does not involve marketing programs associated with seed sales.

Monsanto has received a subpoena for documents from the staff. The company says it is cooperating fully with the SEC.
