Micronutrient Companies Weigh In

We asked micronutrient companies which of their products saw the most movement this season and why. Their comments:

Brandt Consolidated: Manni-Plex Trio is a zinc, manganese, and boron foliar combination applied with the new Brandt SmartSystem. The company says this new technology delivers micronutrients with high efficacy, eliminating crop protection/micronutrient antagonism that’s been an issue in the past, primarily with glyphosate. N-Boron, combined with fungicide applications on corn and soybeans, proved to increase yield above that of a fungicide alone in the tank.

The Mosaic Co.: MicroEssentials SZ (MESZ) incorporates nitrogen, phosphorous, potash, sulfur, and zinc into one granule to facilitate nutrient interactions that increase uptake and efficiency, while keeping them in balance.

Nulex, Inc.: Nulex Chelate 10XL Zinc is a balanced compromise between a fully chelated product and an ammoniated complex, says the company. It’s partially chelated with EDTA and citric acid, with enough chelate to improve the uptake of zinc but at a more modest cost.

Stoller USA: Bio-Forge relieves levels of stress ethylene in any plant (much like lowering blood pressure in humans). Stress ethylene causes the plants to become confused in many of their growth habits, and the Corn Belt saw lots of stress in corn and soybeans this season.

Tiger-Sul Products: Tiger 90CR Sulphur and Tiger micronutrients fertilizers provide a season long release which improves the availability of the nutrients to the crops throughout the growing season.

Wolf Trax: Wolf Trax 62% Zinc DDP is a high analysis formulation, and the application efficiencies of fertilizer coatings made it very attractive to retailers who wanted to differentiate themselves with a high quality, formulated product. Wolf Trax DDP Micronutrients in a foliar application, especially boron, saw increased use this year.
