Cab Comfort

Case Patriot cab

Manufacturers like GVM, Hagie, and John Deere show off the latest features with their cabs. Take a look inside.

Patriot 4420 Surveyor cab, Case IH

The Patriot 4420 Surveyor cab features 113 cubic feet of interior space with 67 square feet of tinted glass for optimal visibility to the front, sides, and rear. Automatic Temperature Control adjusts the interior temperature to the operator’s optimum desired temperature. The cab’s 72 dBA rating is low enough for the radio to be heard at normal volume. A luxury option features a heated red leather seat, leather instructional seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and carpeted floor mat.

Nitro cab, Miller-St. Nazianz

Miller Cab

With the high-back air-ride seat’s leveling valve and shocks, an arm rest bearing all spraying and boom controls, and easy-to-see engine and transmission monitors, the Nitro’s cab is designed for operator comfort. An instructional seat, a tilt and telescoping steering column, and active charcoal filtration are in the pressurized, heated, and air-conditioned cab.

STS cab, Hagie

Hagie STS Cab

Hagie builds the STS cab for the job of spraying: The largest cab they’ve offered at more than 101 cubic feet, the STS has all the regularly accessed switches right in the operator’s hand. The layout also attaches the spray controls, spray monitor, hydrostatic controller, and boom functions to the seven-way adjustable air-ride seat, so they move with the operator. With over 67 square feet of glass, the cab has tremendous visibility to the front and sides; a slightly darker tint on the side and rear windows reduces heat transfer and enhances operator comfort — as does the air conditioner and heater and AM/FC/CD weather band radio.

Apache cab, Equipment Technologies

Apache cab

User-friendly Apache cabs custom manufactured specifically for Apache sprayer models AS1210, AS1010, and AS710 afford maximum visibility by curved glass in rear corners in place of corner posts. Through the super-quiet double-paned laminated glass, the front tires can be seen tracking through the crop. The joystick control — which operates engine rpm, speed, gear selection, and boom tips — is located on the console.

Patriot 3320 cab, Case IH

Patriot 3320 Cab

The mid-sized Patriot 3320 shares many of the same features as the Patriot 4420, possessing a Surveyor cab with 109.5 cubic feet of interior space and 68.5 square feet of glass. With a 71 dBA rating and an engine positioned at the rear of the chassis, the cab is quiet, cool, and comfortable.

Predator 8275 cab, GVM

GVM Cab

From the air entry step to the air suspension seat with multiple-setting lumbar support, GVM’s Predator 8275 provides air conditioned comfort in its pressurized cab with charcoal air filtration. Comfortable accomodations such as a training seat, tilt and telescoping steering, and AM/FM/CD/WB stereo are matched with ease of use granted by GVM’s Pro Joystick, which allows the operator to control all field functions without removing a hand from the joystick. The joystick controls five section booms; tilt boom left and right; foam marker left and right; fence row nozzle; and machine operation forward and reverse. It also contains the master switch, integrated bump shift control, and the cruise control switch.

Prowler 9275 cab, GVM

GVM Cab

The Prowler 9275 shares the Predator 8275’s features, with the addition of an ROPS cab. Both cabs offer easy access to all laser babeled back-lit switches, which are especially valuable when working at night. A Murphy Power View electronic instrument gauge monitors engine and transmission functions, while the Raven Viper Pro provides wireless communication integrated AutoSteer, AutoBoom, and Accuboom functions with only one console. For 2008, GVM will offer a communication system allowing a serviceman or central manager the ability to dial into the Viper Pro through a wireless phone card to trouble shoot problems, change controller settings, monitor the Viper’s outputs while the applicator applies product in the field, and download prescription maps from a desktop computer several miles away.

Operator station, Redball

Redball cab

Redball’s ergonomic operator station is built for comfort with unique “no joystick” operation: all primary controls are at the operator’s fingertips, while the throttle, brake, spray switch, and differential lock are all foot operated. The electronic mph-based speed control with resume adds to ease of use in this ultra-quiet cab with extended-view design. Additional features include an AM/FM/WB/CD audio system with auxiliary 12 volt power outlets; storage compartments; a training seat; air-ride operator chair; and charcoal filtration for cleaner air.

1286c RoGator cab, AGCO/AGCHEM

1286C RoGator cab

From the cab entrance at the reload station to the three-level HVAC filtration system with automatic temperature control, the 1286c RoGator cab is specifically designed for chemical application. Unobstructed boom and front tire visibility are provided by carefully placed components, a glare-reduced hood, wide panoramic windshield, and a glass door. Field controls are located on the armrest attached to the air-suspended seat, while non-field operation controls are within easy reach on the side pillar.

8030 series cab, John Deere

Deere 8030 series cab

The 8030 series cab has convenient and safe access via front egress. All frequently used controls are located on the handle of the hydro lever, which moves with the ComfortCommand seat, Display placement, a narrow hood, and expansive glass enhance visibility. Engine and hydrostatic mounts, double walled insulated exhaust unattached to the cab, slower cooling fan speeds, and sound attenuators reduce noise.
